However, there is a lot about Swift that perhaps even her fans do not know. So, here is a countdown from one to ten of the things you may or may not know about Taylor Swift.

1. The Swift family

Her full name is Taylor Alison Swift and she was born on December, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Her father is in financial advising and her mother worked as a marketer before she had children. Swift is apparently very close to both her parents, having referred to her father as “pie-in-the-sky Dad” and her mother as “down-to-earth.” Her brother Austin Swift happens to be 21 years old.

2. A farm girl

Taylor Swift was 14 years old when she left Nashville to pursue a career as a country musician, but before that she had grown up on a Christmas tree farm. Swift spoke about her life on the farm during an appearance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

4. Peculiar favorites

In an interview, Taylor Swift was asked about her favorite things and she listed quite the interesting and peculiar things. Her list included arts and crafts, blankets, changing seasons, cats, flowers, hydrangea flowers, green eyes, oceans and writing notes. Perhaps her favorites reflect a hidden rebel inside of her.

5. A serial dater

Even for a celebrity, Miss Swift’s list of boyfriends is way too long, having dated male celebrities like Connor Kennedy, Cory Monteith, Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhall, Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Taylor Lautner and Zac Efron. As of lately, she might be dating Ed Sheeran, although the rumor has been denied by her. It seems she fancies gingers, and has expressed an interest in Rupert Grint as well.

6. Songs about breakups

Considering the serial dater that she happens to be, Taylor Swift has quite an unconventional way of dealing with her frequent breakups. Unlike most people, whenever she breaks up with one of her boyfriends, Taylor Swift tends to pen down a song about her relationship, and nearly all of those songs have gone on to become hits.

Perhaps the most witheringly scornful example of Taylor Swift’s tendency of turning her heartbreak into songs directed at her exes would be “Dear John,” which was written after she broke up with John Mayer. Of course, Mayer was not pleased about it and referred to it as a “lousy” thing that Swift had done.

7. A collaborator

From the very beginning of her career, Taylor Swift has been a country/pop musician. So it is not surprising that she has shown an interest to work collaborate with musicians like Imogen Heap, the English singer/songwriter, and Taylor Hanson, who is famous for the song “MMMBop.” However, what is surprising is that Taylor Swift apparently loves hip-hop and even wishes to work with Eminem some day, regardless of whether the rapper himself shares a similar interest or not.

9. An occasional actress

It is not a secret that Taylor Swift has also given acting a shot. She starred in the rom-com Valentine’s Day in 2010 and then in The Lorax in 2012. Reportedly, producers of Les Misérables, Oscar-winning film, had also been strongly considering her for the role of Éponine after her audition; however, for some reason they ended up settling with Samantha Barks.
