At times, they are not able to turn their back on this bad, injurious habit even after going through rehab.
We realize the list of stars who had their lives destroyed by drugs is one much bigger than what we’ve put together here, but here are 5 of the most notorious drug abusers of our time.
1. Macaulay Culkin
It was quite shocking for the public when the actor who had starred in everyone’s favorite Christmas film “Home Alone” was seen in photos looking exhausted, thin, and very much unwell. The public already knew that Culkin had been having problems with drugs, seeing the depths of his addiction and the toll it had taken on his appearance had shocked many fans.
2. Courtney Love
Courtney Love’s career has been somewhat of a carousel, and during that time, her drug use and addiction has been publicly known. Love confessed that she uses drugs like cocaine, ecstasy and heroin, the latter of which she even used when she was pregnant. Of course, the effects eventually caught up in the form of bloating and premature aging, leaving her with an addiction she struggles to battle.
3. Lindsay Lohan
Back when she had starred in “Mean Girls” Lindsay Lohan had been a gorgeous fresh-faced teenage star. Unfortunately, Lohan was viciously criticized for a series of drug busts and incidents of driving under the influence. Since then, Lohan went into a downward spiral of heavy drug use, especially cocaine, and she has even been to rehab quite frequently. As a result, the 27-year actress looks like a 40-year old woman.
4. Kate Moss
Many would not believe that a model would stoop down to abusing drugs seeing how a model’s entire career depends on her looking her best, but the now 40-year-old Kate Moss had done exactly that during the peak of her career. Kate Moss became addicted to cocaine and had a habit of smoking, which destroyed her beautiful skin and yellowed her teeth. Despite the notoriety, Moss continued her drug use and even today, she looks much older than she really is.
5. Amy Winehouse
Drug addictions have been known to take the lives of celebrities as well, such as River Phoenix and Heath Ledger, and the same was the case with Amy Winehouse. Amy Winehouse became addicted to drugs soon after she entered the music business. Strangely, the singer had briefly recovered, unfortunately her abuse of alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, and ketamine, which had already ruined her body, ended up taking her life.
