5 Things You Didn’t Know About Katy Perry

Back in 2011, a special-eddition bookazine was released by US Weekly about Perry titled “All About Katy Perry,” which is sure to reveal interesting facts about the 29-year old pop singer. For now, here are five things about Katy Perry that you did not know.
1. She’s a family girl
Apart from the fact that she is a middle child, Katy Perry has referred to herself as “the black sheep” in her family. Katy Perry’s parents were both Pastors, and thereby, she was given a devout Christian upbringing. Initially, she even pursued a career as a gospel musician. Katy claims that she respects her parents and vice versa, and that she is apparently very close to her grandmother.
2. Dropped high school but studied Italian opera
Although Katy Perry did get her GED, she eventually dropped high school to pursue a career in music. She has expressed joy over the fact that she was able to go to homecoming, that too with a senior. Despite not studying ahead, Katy Perry had been attending the Music Academy of the West, where she studied Italian opera and various dances, such as the jitterbug, Lindy Hop and swing.
3. A Michael Jackson-esque record
Since Michael Jackson, Katy Perry is the first female musician to have five number one music hits from a single album. The tracks, “California Gurls,” “E.T.”,“Firework,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” and “Teenage Dream,” from her album “Teenage Dream” (2010), all reached number one.
4. Has performed 124 shows
The only time that Katy Perry has ever cancelled a concert was during her “California Dreams” tour. However, even then, she has still performed 124 shows in total. In an interview, Katy explained that she had been finding it quite difficult to get up on stage at times during her “California Dreams” tour, and while she found the strength to get through the tour after praying to God, she just could not work it out that one time.
5. A budding collector of the hairs of other celebrities
This is probably one of the weird facts about Katy Perry but it is apparently true because she has admitted that she collects the locks of other famous musicians. Katy herself revealed that during the first few times she had attended the Grammys, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift had been in the same dressing room as hers. She admits that it was creepy yet awesome of her to ask her two fellow musicians for a lock of her hair to add to her collection.
There is probably a lot more that could be reveled about the 29-year old musician, but for now, the above five facts should be enough to pique the intrigue of her admirers and fans.
