[ads1 id=”alignright”]Adele is all over the radio waves nowadays, and you wouldn’t expect anything less from one of the most talented singers in the world.
Her soulful voice seems to create hits every time it resonates into a microphone, which is understandable because who of us didn’t sing along ‘I set fire to the rain’ at some point in their lives?
Most people know about Adele’s music and how addictive it is, but what about the artist herself? Well, here are some interesting things you didn’t know about this famous British singer:
She isn’t a fan of working out.
As a matter of fact, Adele’s image or how people look at her is very low on her list of priorities and we don’t blame her. Adele even said during an interview that she prefers to be admired and remembered because of her music, not for what she looks like.
There is no doubt in her mind that she won’t make the cover of Vogue any time soon, and isn’t troubled by this. She isn’t a trend-setter according to her own words, but a singer who wants nothing more than to be able to express her musical nature freely.
She used to be a heavy drinker.
When she was going out with her ex-boyfriend, Adele used to drink quite a lot for no apparent reason. She says that she started drinking soon after her 18th birthday and it was only by a miracle that she stopped escalating the habit that was already damaging her personal life.
Although she stopped drinking so much in recent years, she sometimes looks back at those days with contempt and blames her lifestyle at the time.
She was a big fan of the Spice Girls while growing up.
In a recent interview, Adele said that the Spice Girls had a major influence on her music, not in style but in passion and commitment. In fact, she would often impersonate the Spice Girls when she was young at every opportunity.
Even though her family was thoroughly entertained by Adele’s impersonation of the Spice Girls, she still feel slightly embarrassed remembering those days.
She went to school with Leona Lewis.
In May 2006, Adele graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Among her graduating class mates we find names like Leona Lewis and Jessie J, although Adele never spoke about her relationship with them.
This isn’t much of a surprise however, as the BRIT school gave the world many great artists over the years, such as Katy B, Imogen Heap, Amy Whinehouse, and many more.
She is very charitable.
In 2008, Adele paid more than $10,000 for a commissioned painting at a charity auction organized to benefit the ‘Keep a Child Alive’ foundation. This charity helps African children that are living with AIDS cope with their everyday struggle.
This isn’t the only time Adele found it within her heart to charitable as she constantly involves herself in charity work whenever she finds the time.
